One of the nice things at the moment is that I actualy have a payed vacation 🙂
Shit will hit the fan very soon but Anet and I planned a nice trip around the countryside. It is again beautiful weather and we enjoy it very much.
Wherever we go the dogs follow us on this photo Voodoo is waiting for Thea to come back all the way from capetown.
Tonight we are having a Braai (grill).
Yesterday we stopped at the Millenium bar, it has a great view.
They sell ice cold bottles of beer 750cl for 10 rand (les than a euro). After that we went out eating at the Fish eagle run by a very small German guy.I had the callimari steak wich was great, Catrien had a very dry dorade.
To top it off we went to the Jungle Monkey, hippy shit, stoned out of there head people arround a campfire, not my ideal place.I learned that Port St. Johns is the hippy capital of the world.
Forget Amsterdam and San Francisco, PSJ and dagga as they call it here is famous all over the world, it grows as fast as grass here and coast notting.Well that was the info for all you podheads, no it is not for sale at Fir’s fruitshop. 🙂
O, I almost forgot Happy birthday to you, Happy birthday to you, Happy birthday dear DI, Happy birthday to you.XXXXXXXX
Today I woke up early again. But before I new it Richard Claus was up as well, we planned that we would make a nice meal for the night. So, 7:30 we went out to the butcher and bought a big peace of pork ribs, we marinated that with salt, staranis and chili’s made a little fire in the wood oven and put it in.During lunch we will look if all is well with our little piggy, but it will be fun tonight.More later ….
Hi everybody,
I’m in SA for more than a week now. I’m getting to like this part of the world, bought a local simcard for my phone and have a SA phone-number now. For those who would like to call me ask Anet who is going to visit me pretty soon she will arrive here on the 3th of March.
Lots of animals and reptiles here. Our host Thea found a green snake on my porch, ohh it’s not a poisoned one she said. Yesterday 2 swallows where sitting on my heating system in my shower, very nice little birds I talked to them and their heads moved as if they understand me.
The production goes well as well, Jeremy and I went trough the whole script twice to find work for us, not my favorite job but I learn a lot. All the spreadsheets here are made in MS excel, which I hate with a passion. A side project of me is putting the whole damn thing in Filemaker which I know very well.
What I didn’t now was that Port St. Johns is a sort of hippy enclave and the big green Bob Marley plants are growing here as fast as grass. Life is also very cheap here. Little restaurants are charging 56R about 5 euro for a 350 grams Rump Steak probably a lot of money for the locals, the meat here is very tender and nice, fresh fish I did not see on the menu yet.
For all the fans Knorr is named Knorrox here, the packaging is pretty ugly but the tastes are interesting lots of chile is growing here as well.
In Holland it is freezing at the moment and here it is 32 Celsius in the sun sometimes it will rain on the end of the day but that is warm rain and pretty nice. For those who Ichat, I have it on sometimes give me a ring.
As I said in the first post I thought I stayed in the outspan Inn. That is actualy not the case, I stay in Wild coast Transkei Kitchen that is in the middle of the Jungle 10 minutes from Port St. Johns.A very nice admosphere, relaxed and very beautifull. Every night when we come back from the office we gather around a big table in the kitchen and talk about movies and things that happen in life.I think I can manage to stay here for a while. We did some rekkies (thats what it sounds like) and that is a location visit. I saw some very nice spiders and gekko’s on those trips. They keep telling me that in PSJ (port st. johns) that there are monkeys, I have not seen them yet but Catrien en Michel have seen them.It is now Saturday just another day at the office, tomorrow I am free and gonna watch a couple of movies I think. Well, it’s 6:30 here time for some food, see photo.
